A  NEW LOUD

Interaction Design   .   final bachelor project

"A New Loud” is a speculative app for augmenting protests that aims to improve the communication of demonstrations by making them clearer, more visual and more dynamic. My bachelor project explored how to make the varying degrees of urgency and importance of different demands within a protesting crowd more visible. This expansion is visualised through an augmented reality (AR) digital swarm that floats above the protest and encompasses the various individual demands of the protesters. To effectively illustrate this concept, I have developed three apps that demonstrate the creation, education and experiential aspects of this augmentation.

User Story

“As a protester participating in a demonstration,
I want my specific demands to be visualized and integrated into a shared augmented reality (AR) swarm above the protest,
so that the diversity, urgency, and importance of our collective messages are clearly and dynamically communicated to both fellow demonstrators and the public.”

In this application, protesters can input their demands into the digital cloud, effectively populating it with relevant pieces of information.

The result is a set of three interconnected applications that support and amplify protest movements through digital tools. Protesters can input their demands into a shared cloud, making individual voices visible and accessible. Using augmented reality, people outside the protest can discover it through their camera app, explore its goals, and support specific demands with a simple gesture. Finally, a reporting tool empowers protesters to document and communicate their movement from within, making coverage more transparent, participatory, and independent.
